Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun

Or fester like a sore-- and then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?

Or crust and sugar over like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags like a heavy load.

Or does It explode?

Langston Mercer Hughes

(1902-1967)

Dream Deferred Initiative, 2020

"What happens to a dream deferred?" asked, poet, Langston Hughes, "does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?" We at the BRONZeTONE Center value the dreams buried deep within most of us. We realize, too, that "dreams are the stuff that life is made of." For this reason, each year we identify and support ordinary folk with extraordinary visions for their lives. On July 22, Mr. Hamlin succumbed to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and related complications. He was a bka (below the knee amputation) survivor, yet he continued to have a passion for life. So we continue to stand in, with, and for the legacy of Lewis Decellous Hamlin.

   Lewis Decellous Hamlin (aka "Lew")

(July 1,1954 - July 22, 2015 )

The BRONZeTONE Center continues to promote and sponsor Mr. Hamlin's unique pound cake recipe in the greater Los Angeles/Baltimore/Georgia regions. Lew's heart healthy and diabetic friendly cakes, prepared with organic and natural ingredients, remain in demand, reminding us of his "dream deferred,": owning a small bake shop somewhere. With the support of the "Dream Deferred Initiative," we continue to prepare Lew's cakes that are in his words, "so good, it ain't nuthin' but the Truth

July 2020. When you have a dream or vision for your life stand with it, stand in it, stand for it, even if it means standing alone. Here at BRONZeTONE we understand the longing for something more. We know that when we align with the vibration of unconditional love of self and others, our soul is satisfied and our dreams and purpose emerge in a most magnificent and unimaginable way. What's Your Purpose? Why are you here? Are you working on a dream or just wasting time? What legacy will you leave?
